Wm B Eerdmans was founded in 1911 and is still independently owned. The company is well known for publishing a wide range of religious books, from academic works in theology and biblical studies to popular titles in spirituality, social and cultural criticism and literature.

Although best known as an academic publisher, Eerdmans also publishes a wide variety of books on spirituality and Christian living for the general reader, and aims to provide an arena for dialogue and discussion by publishing books from all along the spectrum of Christian orthodoxy, creating a true forum for ideas.

Eerdmans Books for Young Readers, the company's children's imprint, produces quality picture books, fiction and young adult titles.
