Ave Maria Press
Ave Maria Press (which includes Sorin Books, Forest of Peace Publishing, Thomas More and Christian Classics imprints) is a 138-year-old publisher of books on Catholicism and Western spirituality. It traces its roots back to 1865 when Father Edward Sorin, CSC, founder of the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, published the first issue of Ave Maria - a weekly magazine for Catholic families. By the turn of the century it was one of the largest circulation Catholic periodicals in the English-speaking world. Today, the catalogue of Ave Maria and Sorin Books includes over 370 titles.
Ave Maria Press publishes in a wide range of areas including spirituality, personal enrichment, and family life books for the religious and general reader. It also publishes school theology texts, parish and ministry resources and books on pastoral care and guidance.
Forest of Peace
Forest of Peace was founded in 1979 and has achieved a national and international reputation for publishing innovative books on prayer, spirituality, and personal growth. The Forest of Peace list has been built around best-selling author Father Edward Hays, and includes several notable books, including Prayers for a Planetary Pilgrim and Prayers for the Domestic Church.
Christian Classics
Christian Classics was launched over 50 years ago in Maryland to meet the demand for classic works of the Christian heritage, including such titles as Butler's Lives of the Saints, Caryll Houselander's Reed of God, a one-volume digest of the Summa Theologica, and Quasten's Patrology.
Thomas More Association
The Thomas More Association was founded in Chicago in 1940 by the late Dan Herr and was noted for its periodical The Critic, as well as educational newsletters and the Thomas More Bookclub. Thomas More Press was launched by Herr and Joel Wells in 1971 to publish issue-oriented books.
